1 Killed in 3-Vehicle Crash on SH 114 in Hockley County

One Killed in Hockley County Crash on SH 114 near Smyer

Hockley County, Texas (February 2, 2023) – One person was killed in a traffic accident Wednesday in Hockley County, according to a report released by the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The deadly crash occurred on SH 114, just east of Smyer, on Wednesday, February 1.

As per the report, a DPS trooper was making a traffic stop when a vehicle heading eastbound went over the median and hit a car that was pulled over on the side of the highway.

The eastbound vehicle then hit the patrol unit.

The driver of the car that was pulled over was pronounced dead at the scene. The trooper is expected to make a full recovery.

The crash remains under investigation by DPS.
