HPD Officer Injured in Houston Two-Vehicle Crash on Katy Freeway near Dairy Ashford Road

Houston, Texas (November 22, 2023) – An HPD officer was injured Tuesday night in a crash involving a suspected drunk driver in Houston, according to the police.

The crash happened around 11:25 p.m., November 21, on Katy Freeway near Dairy Ashford Road.

Police said the officer was blocking lanes of traffic with his patrol vehicle when he was struck by a suspected drunk driver.

The at-fault driver, a 31-year-old, ended up in the westbound main lanes of the freeway and was struck by two other cars.

Both the HPD officer and the suspected drunk driver were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The officer was treated for a concussion and was alert and expected to make a full recovery.

The other two drivers were not seriously injured in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
