Man Killed, Two Injured in San Antonio Crash on Interstate 10

San Antonio, Texas (April 15, 2022) – A man was killed and two other people were injured in a fiery crash involving an 18-wheeler in San Antonio on Wednesday evening, authorities said.

The tragic incident happened at about 5:00 p.m. on April 13 on Interstate 10.

According to the authorities, the 18-wheeler hauling gravel was heading northbound on Interstate 10 when a tire on the gravel-filled hauler abruptly burst.

The driver of the 18-wheeler swerved to the left and hit a Toyota Corolla, which then slammed into the concrete barrier dividing north and southbound lanes.

After the crash, the Toyota mounted the concrete barrier and came to the rest of it. It then burst into flames.

The Toyota driver, described as a man in his 50’s or 60’s, was transported to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. His name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

A Jeep Latitude was also involved in the crash, but its driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The condition of the 18-wheeler driver was not immediately known.

The crash remains under investigation.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
