Tristan Cooley Killed in Gatesville Two-Vehicle Crash on U.S. 84

Gatesville, Texas (May 24, 2022) – One person was killed, and another was injured on Sunday in a head-on collision, about ten miles outside Gatesville, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened shortly after midnight, May 22, on U.S. 84.

DPS said Tristan Cooley, 24, of Chandler, Arizona, was driving a 2010 Toyota Corolla eastbound on the highway while an 18-year-old man from Evant was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Suburban westbound.

For unknown reasons, Cooley’s Toyota crossed into the path of the Chevrolet, resulting in a head-on collision.

Cooley was airlifted to Scott and White Hospital in Temple, where he was pronounced dead.

The Chevrolet driver was taken to Scott and White ER in Temple, Texas, with incapacitating injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
