James Spiller Killed in Waco Three-Vehicle Crash at New Road and Huaco Lane

Waco, Texas (September 9, 2020) – The person who was killed in a three-vehicle crash that left four other people injured last month in Waco has been identified as James Spiller, according to authorities.

The fatal crash happened around 9:45 p.m., August 4, at the intersection of New Road and Huaco Lane.

Police said a Toyota Prius was heading southbound on New Road when it entered the center turn lane at the same time with a Toyota Camry that had been heading northbound.

The Camry and the Prius then collided head-on. The impact caused the Prius to hit a Chevrolet Tahoe.

The driver of the Camry, Julius Jejuan Hall of Waco, fled the scene.

The Prius driver, Spiller, was taken to a local hospital where he later died.

A passenger in the Camry and the three occupants of the Tahoe were taken to local hospitals for treatment.

Firefighters had to use the Jaws of Life to extricate one of the victims from the wreckage.

Hall was later arrested and has been charged with failure to stop and render aid. As of Tuesday, September 8, he was being held at the McLennan County Jail.

The crash remains under investigation.

We pass our sincere condolences to the family and friends of James Spiller.

“When a person has suffered a grave personal injury in an accident due to someone else’s negligence, the most overwhelming emotion they feel is a sense of injustice. They often ask how such a life-altering event could have happened to them,” attorney Joel A. Gordon said. “The next question usually is, who can help me?” Mr. Gordon added.
