Keren Dyer Dies Days After Car Crash at CR 417 and US 287 in Anderson County

Keren Dyer Killed in Anderson County Two-Vehicle Crash at CR 417 and US Highway 287

Anderson County, Texas (August 5, 2021) – The Palestine woman who was injured on July 29 in a two-vehicle crash in Anderson County has died, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

21-year-old Keren Dyer succumbed to her injuries on August 4.

The crash happened around 3:35 p.m., at the intersection of CR 417 and US Highway 287, southeast of Palestine.

DPS said Dyer was driving a 2012 Honda Civic and was stopped at a stop sign on CR 417. She failed to yield the right-of-way, pulled out onto US 287, and crashed into an 18-wheeler that was traveling southeast on US 287.

The force of the impact caused the Honda to spin around and come to a stop facing southeast.

Dyer was taken to UT Health-Tyler with life-threatening injuries, where she later died.

The 18-wheeler driver, Travis McMillian, 36, of Houston, was uninjured in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

While there are many causes of car accidents, the most common reasons of driver negligence include driver inattention; cell phone use; texting and driving; speeding; fatigue; failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive; running a red light; and driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs,” Attorney Joel A. Gordon said. Mr. Gordon believes that an independent investigation is important. An Attorney will help obtain the crash report, secure accident photos, interview witnesses, and create a claim.
