Johnny Avertt Killed in Motorcycle Crash on IH 20 in Parker County

Johnny Avertt Killed in Parker County Motorcycle Crash on IH 20 at FM 1189

Parker County, Texas (November 7, 2023) – A motorcyclist was killed Sunday afternoon in a crash in Parker County, according to the Texas DPS.

The deadly accident happened around 3:33 p.m., November 5, on IH 20 North Service Road at the intersection of FM 1189.

DPS said Raymond Hood,73, of Lipan, was driving a 2001 Chevrolet S10 westbound on the service road while Johnny Avertt,71, of Millsap, was riding a 2001 Harley Davidson Sportster 883 eastbound on the service road.

Hood failed to yield the right of way while turning left onto FM 1189 and struck the Harley Davidson Sportster.

Avertt was killed in the crash.

No other information was available.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
