Fernando Davalos Killed in 6-Vehicle Crash on State Highway 285 in Falfurrias

Fernando Davalos ID’d as 43-Year-Old Man Killed in Falfurrias Car Accident on State Highway 285
Falfurrias, Texas (May 4, 2019) – The 43-year-old man who was killed Tuesday evening in a six-vehicle crash near Falfurrias has been identified as Fernando Davalos, of Los Fresno, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The deadly accident occurred at around 4:60 p.m. Tuesday, April 30 on State Highway 285, approximately six miles east of Falfurrias.
According to the DPS, a 2019 Kenworth truck tractor semi-trailer, a 2017 Ford F-150, a 2007 Freightliner tractor-trailer and a 2006 Kia Sedona were stopped at the construction zone for a flagman.
The driver of a 2019 Kenworth tractor-trailer was unable to control speed and hit the pickup. The force of that impact pushed the pickup off the roadway.
The second Kenworth tractor-trailer then hit the first tractor-trailer, causing a chain reaction. The Kia Sedona was pinned between the Kenworth tractor-trailer and the Freightliner. A 2011 Freightliner tractor-trailer heading eastbound was hit by debris.
Davalos, who was the driver of the 2019 Kenworth tractor-trailer, was declared dead at the scene.
One person was airlifted to Christus Spohn Hospital Shoreline in Corpus Christi. Three people were transported to Christus Spohn Hospital in Alice, and two others were taken to Christus Spohn Hospital in Kingsville with unspecified injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
