Kristen Knoop ID’d as Woman Killed in Gray County Crash on State Highway 152 near Pampa

Gray County, Texas (May 31, 2022) – The woman who died Monday evening following a head-on crash in Gray County has been identified as Kristen Knoop, 28.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the deadly crash happened at about 6:30 p.m. on May 30 on State Highway 152, approximately 3 miles west of Pampa.

DPS said Knoop, a Pampa resident, was driving eastbound on State Highway 152 when, for an unknown reason, her 2002 Chevy Trailblazer crossed over the center median and traveled into the opposite lane, where it collided head-on with a westbound 2021 GMC Sierra.

Following the collision, the Trailblazer flipped on its top in the westbound lane while the Sierra came to a stop on its wheels in a field northwest of the roadway.

Knoop was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Sierra driver, Michael Lugar, 63, of Orange Park, Florida, was transported to Pampa Regional Medical Plaza in stable condition.

Texas Highway Patrol Troopers are investigating the incident.
