Luis Gerardo Rios Killed in Martin County Two-Vehicle Crash on SH 137

Martin County, Texas (April 6, 2023) – A San Antonio man was killed Tuesday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in Martin County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 12:45 p.m., April 4, on SH 137, eight miles north of Stanton.

DPS said Luis Gerardo Rios, 46, had stopped his truck on the eastbound shoulder of the highway, and a truck tractor was traveling northbound behind him.

Rios reportedly made an unsafe U-turn in front of the truck tractor, resulting in a collision.

Rios was pronounced dead at the scene. He was reportedly not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The truck driver was uninjured in the crash.

No other details were available.

The crash remains under investigation.
