Officers Brandon Reinarz and Marco Gonzalez Injured in North Austin Two-Vehicle Crash at Parkfield Drive and Payton Gin Road; Jorge Noyola Arrested
Austin, Texas (February 26, 2019) – The two officers who were injured Monday night in a suspected DUI crash at a North Austin intersection have been identified as Brandon Reinarz and Marco Gonzalez, according to the officials.
The crash took place at about 8:15 p.m. February 25, the intersection of Parkfield Drive and Payton Gin Road.
Austin police said the officers were responding to a service call in their patrol car heading westbound when they entered the intersection on a green light. Another vehicle driven by, Jorge Lopez Noyola, 43, failed to yield the right of way and turned left, resulting in a collision.
Both officers were treated at the scene by the emergency crews. Gonzalez was released at the scene while Reinarz was taken to a local hospital for further evaluation and was later released.
Noyola was intoxicated at the time of the crash. He was taken to the hospital where he was placed under arrest. After his release from the hospital, he was booked into the Travis County Jail and charged with DWI.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
