Police Officer Injured in Beaumont Car Crash on Interstate 10; Rayshirra Thompson Arrested

Beaumont, Texas (October 30, 2023) – A Beaumont police officer was injured early Sunday morning in a crash involving a drunk driver in Beaumont, according to the police.

The crash happened just after 1:00 a.m., October 29, in the 2600 block of the Interstate 10 eastbound service road.

Police said a vehicle ran a red light and hit the officer’s patrol vehicle. The force of the impact caused the officer’s vehicle to spin and hit a utility pole, before coming to a stop in the middle of the roadway.

The officer was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The other driver, Rayshirra Thompson, 26, of Beaumont, was found to be intoxicated. She was arrested for intoxication assault.

The police are investigating the crash.
