Pedestrian Hit by Intoxicated Driver on Convention Center Blvd in McAllen; William Smith Arrested

One Injured in McAllen Pedestrian Accident on Convention Center Boulevard; William Smith Arrested 

McAllen, Texas – A pedestrian was injured Saturday night after being struck by an intoxicated driver in McAllen, according to the police.

The accident happened just after 10:00 p.m., February 17, in the 700 block of Convention Center Boulevard.

Police said William Brent Smith, of McAllen, was allegedly driving while intoxicated when he struck a pedestrian.

The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Smith was arrested and charged with intoxication assault with a vehicle causing serious bodily injury and unlawful carrying of a weapon. His bond was set at $11,000 and he was released on Sunday.

The police are investigating the crash.
