Postal Worker Killed in Houston Hit-and-Run Crash at Julia Street and Bauman Road

Houston, Texas (October 2, 2023) – According to the police, a postal worker was killed Saturday afternoon in a hit-and-run crash in Houston.

The deadly accident happened around 3:00 p.m., September 30, at Julia Street and Bauman Road.

Police said the postal worker was attempting to make a left-hand turn when the driver of a Ford Expedition tried to go around him. The Expedition driver clipped the corner of the mail truck, sending it into a ditch. The postal worker was thrown from the truck, and the truck fell on him.

Witnesses tried to push the truck off the postal worker, but he was pronounced dead on the way to the hospital. His name has not been released.

The Expedition driver fled the scene after the crash, and the authorities are looking for them. Investigators had the Expedition’s license plate number, and they went to the home the SUV was registered to, and a person there claimed it was stolen.

The police are conducting the investigation.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, bicycle, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
