Randy Beasley Killed, Michael Shepherd Injured in Panola County Two-Vehicle Crash at FM 9 and U.S. 79

Panola County, Texas (December 6, 2023) – The man who was killed last week in a two-vehicle crash in Panola County has been identified as Randy A. Beasley, 60, of Marshall, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 4:16 p.m., November 30, at the intersection of FM 9 and U.S. 79, about five miles northeast of DeBerry.

DPS said Beasley was stopped at the intersection facing southbound while an 18-wheeler was traveling southwest on U.S. 79.

Beasley failed to yield the right of way to the 18-wheeler, resulting in a collision.

Beasley was taken to Ochsner Louisiana State University Hospital in Shreveport where he was pronounced dead.

The 18-wheeler driver, Michael D. Shepherd, 52, of Carthage, was taken to Christus Good Shepherd Medical Center in Marshall with non-incapacitating injuries.

The Texas DPS is investigating the crash.
