Reshunte Earl Injured in 3-Vehicle Crash on Highway 59 in Lufkin

Reshunte Earl Airlifted after Lufkin Crash on U.S. Highway 59

Lufkin, Texas (May 28, 2022) – Reshunte Earl, 29, was among three people who were injured Friday morning in a collision involving three vehicles near Lufkin, according to a report by the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The three-vehicle crash happened at around 7:30 a.m. Friday, May 27, on U.S. Highway 59, just north of Lufkin.

As per the DPS report, Earl was driving a 2013 Hyundai car southbound on U.S. Highway 59 and was followed behind by a 2017 Nissan car, driven by Taira Coutee, 48, of Lufkin. At the same time, a 1997 Freightliner truck tractor semi-trailer transporting plywood was heading northbound.

Earl observed some debris in the roadway and lost control of the vehicle, which veered into the opposite lane.

The truck tractor driver, Jose Limon, 31, of Nacogdoches, swerved to the left to avoid a collision while Earl swerved back to the right. The Hyundai ultimately collided with the truck tractor in the center turn lane.

Following the collision, the truck tractor spilled its load onto the roadway and hit the Nissan passenger car. The truck tractor then traveled into the east ditch, where it overturned.

Earl was airlifted to a Tyler hospital in an unknown condition. Two passengers in the truck were transported to Woodland Heights with unspecified injuries.

Limon and Coutee were not injured.

Authorities temporarily blocked all lanes of Highway 59 during the investigation.

No further details about the collision were immediately provided.

The accident remains under investigation.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
