Shamsuddin Jooma Killed, 17-Year-Old Son Injured in Carrollton Two-Vehicle Crash at West Rosemeade Parkway and Greenway Park Drive; Luis Alexis Fonseca Acosta Arrested

Carrollton, Texas (August 7, 2020) – A man has been arrested following a car crash that left a father dead and his son injured last month in Carrollton, according to police.

Luis Alexis Fonseca Acosta, 39, was arrested and has been charged with Manslaughter and Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

The fatal crash occurred at about 8:00 a.m., July 24, at the intersection of West Rosemeade Parkway and Greenway Park Drive.

Police said Acosta was driving a Camaro at a high rate of speed when he hit an SUV as it entered Rosemeade Parkway from an adjacent neighborhood.

The SUV driver, 67-year-old Shamsuddin Jooma, was pronounced dead at the scene. His 17-year-old son was taken to Medical City Plano Hospital with serious injuries and is recovering.

Acosta was arrested and is facing an additional charge of Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon because a gun was found in his vehicle after the crash.

The police are investigating the crash.
