1 Killed, 1 Injured in Wrong-Way Crash on Beltway 8 in Harris County

One Killed, One Critically Injured in Harris County Crash on Beltway 8 near Woodforest Boulevard

Harris County, Texas (April 3, 2023) – One person was killed and another was critically injured in a wrong-way crash in Harris County early Sunday morning, authorities said.

The deadly crash happened at around 4:00 a.m. Sunday, April 2, in the southbound lanes of Beltway 8 near Woodforest Boulevard and the Sam Houston Elementary School.

According to the authorities, a gray Chevrolet Silverado was traveling the wrong way in the southbound lanes of Beltway 8 when it slammed into a Chevrolet Malibu.

The man driving the Malibu was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

The driver of the Silverado was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

Authorities later determined that the wrong-way driver was intoxicated at the time of the accident. He is being charged with intoxication and manslaughter for the death of the innocent driver.

Authorities are investigating the crash.
