One Killed in Houston Two-Vehicle Crash at North Loop West and Ella Boulevard; Andrea Thimmig Charged

Houston, Texas (December 30, 2020) – According to police, a woman has been arrested in connection to the DUI crash that left one person dead on Christmas morning in Houston.

The deadly accident happened just after 2:00 a.m., December 25, at the intersection of North Loop West and Ella Boulevard.

Police said Andrea Thimmig, 43, was driving westbound on the service road at 1500 North Loop West when she ran a red light and struck a Honda Civic that was traveling southbound on Ella Boulevard.

The Civic driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s identity has not been released.

Thimmig has been charged with intoxication manslaughter. 

The police are investigating the crash.

In Texas, a driver is legally intoxicated after consuming alcohol if their blood alcohol content (BAC) is .08% or higher. A driver is also considered intoxicated if they don’t have the normal use of their mental or physical faculties by reason of the introduction of alcohol. Alcohol however is not the only intoxicant, as drivers can become intoxicated by ingesting prescription and illegal drugs such as crack, marijuana, and cocaine.
