One Killed in Denton Two-Vehicle Crash at Jim Christal Road and N. Western Boulevard

Denton, Texas (October 23, 2021) – One person was killed early Friday morning in a DWI crash in Denton, according to the authorities.

The fatal crash happened around 2:17 a.m., October 22, at the intersection of Jim Christal Road and N. Western Boulevard.

Authorities said a Nissan pickup truck was traveling westbound on Jim Christal Road at a high rate of speed, while a Toyota sedan was traveling northbound on N. Western Boulevard.

The Nissan ran a stop sign at the intersection and hit the passenger’s side of the Toyota.

The Toyota driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity has not been released.

The Nissan driver was ejected and was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. Alcohol and speed on the part of the Nissan driver were the factors in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.

In Texas, a driver is legally intoxicated after consuming alcohol if their blood alcohol content (BAC) is .08% or higher. A driver is also considered intoxicated if they don’t have the normal use of their mental or physical faculties by reason of the introduction of alcohol.
