1 Killed in Fiery Semi-Truck Crash at Highway 287 and U.S. 54 in Stratford

One Killed in Stratford Crash at Highway 287 and U.S. 54

Stratford, Texas (August 26, 2023) – One person was killed in a fiery semi-truck crash near Stratford on Friday night, according to Stratford police.

The crash involving a pair of semi-trucks happened at around 9:20 p.m. Friday, August 25, near the intersection of Highway 287 and U.S. 54.

Stratford police said a semi-truck was heading eastbound near the intersection of Highway 287 and U.S. 54 when it collided head-on with a westbound semi-truck head-on near the intersection of Spruce Street and Highway 54.

Police said one of the semi-trucks was slowly catching on fire. The officer, who was nearby, busted out the window and pulled the driver out. The driver received treatment at the scene and was not hospitalized.

The other truck flipped onto its side and burst into flames. The driver died in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
