15-Year-Old Boy Killed in Roby Motorcycle Crash on Highway 80 at Ammons Road

Roby, Texas (May 27, 2023) – A 15-year-old boy was killed Thursday night in a motorcycle crash in Roby, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened on May 25, on Highway 80 at the intersection of Ammons Road.

DPS said the boy was riding a 2007 Harley Davidson Sportster motorcycle eastbound on the highway approaching the intersection while a semi-truck was traveling westbound on Ammons Road. He then made a right turn onto Ammons Road, failed to maintain control of his motorcycle, crossed the center of the roadway, and struck the trailer of the semi-trailer truck.

The boy was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.

The 47-year-old driver of the semi-truck was taken to a local hospital with non-incapacitating injuries.

The troopers are investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, bicycle, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
