2 DPS Troopers Injured in End-Of-Pursuit Crash on State Highway 99 in Houston

Two Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers Hospitalized after Houston Crash on State Highway 99 near Peek Road

Houston, Texas (November 2, 2023) – Two Texas Department of Public Safety troopers were injured after a high-speed chase ended in a traffic crash in Houston on Monday night, according to a local news source.

The crash happened at about 9:30 p.m. Monday, October 30 on State Highway 99 near Peek Road.

Authorities said the troopers tried to pull over a woman on State Highway 99 for a traffic violation. She failed to stop and led troopers on a high-speed chase that reached speeds of up to 90 mph.

The woman was carrying one passenger in the car along with four small children in the back seat.

DPS Troopers were able to use a PIT maneuver in order to stop the woman’s vehicle. Reportedly, another trooper and his partner were racing to the scene when their patrol vehicle collided with an Amazon Prime 18-wheeler.

One of the troopers was airlifted to a Houston hospital in serious condition, while the other trooper was transported in stable condition.

Four state trooper vehicles were damaged during the chase, including the one that was totaled in the 18-wheeler collision.

The woman whose name was not immediately provided is facing multiple felony charges.

An investigation is currently underway.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, bicycle, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
