2 Killed after Oil Well Blowout at Chesapeake Energy Inc. in Burleson County

Two Killed and Two Injured in Burleson County Oil Well Blowout at Chesapeake Energy Inc.

Burleson County, Texas (February 1, 2020) – Two people were killed, and several others were injured after an oil well exploded in Burleson County, according to the authorities.

The explosion happened around 3:30 p.m. on January 29, on the Wendl and Daniel H 1 H well at Chesapeake Energy Inc. well site.

Authorities said contractors were upgrading a wellhead on a lease when it took a gas kick and ignited.

One of the workers was pronounced dead at the scene.

Three other workers were taken to the hospital where one of them succumbed to his injuries on Thursday morning.

The authorities are investigating the incident.
