2-Year-Old Boy Killed in Wichita Falls Two-Vehicle Crash on Southwest Parkway

Wichita Falls, Texas (October 16, 2022) – A 2-year-old boy was killed Friday night in a two-vehicle crash in Wichita Falls, according to the police.

The fatal crash happened shortly after 6:30 a.m., October 14, in the 2600 block of Southwest Parkway.

Police said a black 2010 GMC Denali was traveling eastbound when it rear-ended a dark green 2000 Dodge Caravan that was stopped in the eastbound lanes due to a mechanical problem.

The force of the impact pushed the van off the roadway and caused it to hit a telephone pole.

The occupants of the van, a 25-year-old woman and her two children, a 5-year-old and a 2-year-old boy, were taken to United Regional Hospital. The 2-year-old boy was airlifted to Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth with severe head injuries, where he later died.

The driver of the GMC, a 36-year-old man, was uninjured in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
