3 Killed in Wrong-Way Crash on US 84 in Limestone County

Three Killed in Limestone County Two-Vehicle Crash on US 84

Limestone County, Texas (August 23, 2021) – According to the Texas DPS, three people were killed Sunday morning in a wrong-way crash in Limestone County.

The fatal crash happened just after 2:20 a.m., August 22, on US 84, 5 miles east of Prairie Hill.

DPS said a Kia Optima was traveling westbound on the wrong side of the roadway when it collided head-on with an eastbound Nissan Altima.

The Nissan caught fire after the crash.

The Kia driver, a 17-year-old girl, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has not been released.

The passenger in the Kia was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Both the driver and the passenger of the Nissan were also pronounced dead at the scene. Their identities have not been released.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
