30-Year-Old Man Killed in Houston Motorcycle Crash on Katy Freeway (I-10)

Houston, Texas (October 24, 2022) – A 30-year-old man was killed Thursday night in a motorcycle crash in Houston, according to the police.

The fatal crash happened around 10:35 p.m., October 20, in the 1400 block of Katy Freeway (West Interstate Highway 10).

Police said the man was riding a black Kawasaki 300SM motorcycle eastbound on the freeway when an 18-wheeler tractor-trailer struck the side of the motorcycle. The impact caused the man to lose control of the motorcycle, go underneath the trailer, and was struck by the trailer.

The 18-wheeler driver left the scene after the accident.

Additional vehicles possibly struck the motorcyclist but also fled the scene. The driver of a Nissan Sentra struck the motorcycle, stopped, and called the police.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.

The Nissan driver was not intoxicated and was questioned and released.

The police are investigating the crash. Anyone with any information about the crash or the identities of the unknown drivers involved is asked to call the HPD Hit and Run Unit at 713-247-4072 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
