36-Year-Old Man Killed in San Antonio Car Crash on I-10; Natalie Saldana Charged

San Antonio, Texas (December 27, 2019) – The 36-year-old man who was injured along with two other people in a suspected DUI crash early Sunday morning in San Antonio has died, authorities said.

The crash happened at about 3:20 a.m. December 22, on I-10 near Leon Springs.

Authorities said a family was traveling to Florida for the holidays when their car stalled out on the freeway due to an accident. A Bexar County sheriff’s deputy came to their aid. The deputy immediately called for a tow truck.

As the stalled vehicle was being loaded onto the tow truck, Natalie Saldana, 30, crashed into the patrol car. The child had been placed into the patrol vehicle to stay warm.

The impact caused the patrol car to flip over, and it crushed into two adults.

The man and the woman were pinned underneath the upside-down vehicle.

The deputy and the young child were injured in the accident but made it out safely.

The man and a woman were pulled out from underneath the vehicle by the responding firefighters. Both adults and the child were taken to the hospital with multiple injuries where the man later died.

Saldana was taken to University Hospital. She faces intoxication manslaughter charges.

The crash remains under investigation.
