Six Injured in Killeen Three-Vehicle Crash at State Highway 195 and Chaparral Road

Killeen, Texas – Six people were injured Sunday night in a three-vehicle crash in south Killeen, according to the police.

The crash happened around 7:30 p.m., December 31, at the intersection of State Highway 195 and Chaparral Road.

Police said a black 2019 Toyota Corolla with six passengers was traveling in the outside lane of southbound SH 195 when it passed the intersection, failed to control its speed and crashed into a white 2016 Dodge Durango with four passengers.

The impact caused the Durango to spin and rear-end a black 2018 Chevrolet Equinox with one occupant.

All the occupants in the Corolla, including a 27-year-old woman in the front passenger seat who was holding a 3-year-old and three children ranging in age from 4 to 6 years old, sustained injuries in the crash. The 4-year-old, who had major injuries, and two 6-year-olds, who had minor injuries, were transported by ambulance to a children’s hospital in Temple. The driver, who was the only one in the vehicle wearing a seatbelt, was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. The 27-year-old woman was taken to the hospital for treatment. The 3-year-old was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

No other injuries were reported in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, bicycle, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
