Geovanny Nieto Killed and Stefany Vasquez Critically Injured in Houston Two-Vehicle Crash on Southwest Freeway at Fountain View Drive

Houston, Texas (September 15, 2021) – One person was killed, and another was critically injured early Sunday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Houston, according to the police.

The deadly crash happened around 3:15 a.m., September 12, in the 6000 block of Southwest Freeway (South U.S. Highway 59) service road at the intersection of Fountain View.

Police said Diana Laura Monterroza, 21, was driving a gray Nissan Altima on the freeway when she ran a red light at the intersection and T-boned an Acura TL that was heading eastbound on Fountain View Drive.

The Acura driver, 31-year-old Geovanny Nieto, was pronounced dead at the scene. His wife, Stefany Vasquez, who was his passenger, was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

A GoFundMe has been set up for donations to help the family.

Monterroza was arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter. She was uninjured in the crash. Her bond was set at $120,000

The crash remains under investigation.
