Ward County, Texas (October 12, 2021) – A Pecos musician was killed early Saturday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Ward County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 3:14 a.m. on October 9, on Interstate 20, five miles west of Pyote.

DPS said Aron Lara, 20, of Pecos, was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu westbound on the highway when he rear-ended a semi-truck.

Lara was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. He was a local musician and was set to perform at the 49th annual Tejano Super Show at the Ector County Coliseum on November 22.

The semi-truck driver was uninjured in the crash.

The DPS is investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

While there are many causes of car accidents, the most common reasons of driver negligence include driver inattention; cell phone use; texting and driving; speeding; fatigue; failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive; running a red light; and driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs,” Attorney Joel A. Gordon said. Mr. Gordon believes that an independent investigation is important. An Attorney will help obtain the crash report, secure accident photos, interview witnesses, and create a claim.
