William Weatherford Killed, Christian Tharp Injured in Motorcycle Crash at East Broadway and Idalou Road in Lubbock

William Weatherford Killed and Christian Tharp Injured in Lubbock Motorcycle Crash at East Broadway and Idalou Road

Lubbock, Texas (May 8, 2022) – One person was killed and another was injured Friday evening in a motorcycle crash in Lubbock, according to the police.

The fatal crash happened around 8:43 p.m., May 6, at the intersection of East Broadway and Idalou Road.

Police said a Chevrolet Equinox was traveling eastbound in the 2700 block of East Broadway and it stopped at the stop sign at Idalou Road. It then drove through the intersection and into the path of a motorcycle that was traveling northbound in the 2600 block of Idalou Road, resulting in a collision.

The motorcyclist, 49-year-old William Weatherford, was taken to University Medical Center with serious injuries where he later died.

Tharp sustained minor injuries in the crash.

No other injuries were reported,

The Lubbock Police Department’s Major Crash Unit is investigating the crash.
