7-Year-Old Killed, Nathaniel Jimenez and Two Others Injured in Crash on SH 64 in Smith County

7-Year-Old Killed, Nathaniel Jimenez and Two Others Injured in Smith County Two-Vehicle Crash on State Highway 64

Smith County, Texas – A 7-year-old boy was killed and three other people were injured Sunday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Smith County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened on February 4, on State Highway 64.

DPS said an 18-year-old was driving westbound on the highway with two passengers inside, a 7-year-old and a 12-year-old.

The 18-year-old failed to yield the right of way and collided with an eastbound vehicle driven by Nathaniel O. Jimenez, 25, of Tyler.

The 7-year-old passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. The 18-year-old and the 12-year-old were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Jimenez was taken to a Tyler hospital for treatment.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
