Nine Injured in Killeen Three-Vehicle Crash at W.S. Young Drive and Elms Road; CeQuil S. Clemons and Fredrick L. Mayhan Arrested

Killeen, Texas (March 25, 2020) – According to the police, two people have been arrested in connection with the street racing crash that left nine people injured last month in Killeen.

The crash happened on Friday, Feb 8, at about 9:38 p.m. at the intersection of W.S. Young Drive and Elms Road.

According to a preliminary investigation, a gray Dodge Charger and a black Mercedes Benz were racing northbound on W.S. Young Drive while a Dodge Journey was traveling southbound on W.S. Young and was in the turning lane to turn left.

When the Journey turned at the intersection, it was struck in the passenger side by the Charger, which was traveling in the outside lane. The force of the impact caused the Journey to drift northeast and hit a signal light pole. The Charger spun clockwise, and it struck the Mercedes, which was traveling in the inside lane.

A female passenger in the Journey was airlifted to Baylor & Scott and White in critical condition. The male driver of the Journey and five children were transported by ground ambulance to the hospital for treatment.

The driver of the Charger and his female passenger were taken to Seton Medical Center Harker Height with minor injuries.

The Mercedes driver and his female passenger were uninjured in the crash.

The drivers of the Charger and the Mercedes, CeQuil S. Clemons, 24, and Fredrick L. Mayhan, 47, have been charged with Racing on Highway-Causing Serious Bodily Injury.

Mayhan was found on Tuesday and arrested. He was taken to the Bell County Jail. Clemons turned himself in at the Killeen Police Headquarters.

An investigation is underway.

We hope the injured victims recover quickly.

“When a person has suffered a grave personal injury in an accident due to someone else’s negligence, the most overwhelming emotion they feel is a sense of injustice. They often ask how such a life-altering event could have happened to them,” attorney Joel A. Gordon said. “The next question usually is, who can help me?” Mr. Gordon added.

A legal advocate can represent an injury victim. The attorney will file a claim on behalf of the victim and will have the responsibility of citing existing codes, laws or statues which were violated.
