Carlos Ozuna Jr. Killed in McAllen Car Crash on West Expressway 83

McAllen, Texas (December 8, 2020) – A child was killed, and several other people were injured in a car crash Sunday afternoon in McAllen, according to police.

The fatal crash occurred around 1:25 p.m., December 6, in the 5100 block of West Expressway 83.

Police said Saul Aguirre, 17, of La Joya, was driving an SUV when he rear-ended a van and fled the scene.

Aguirre drove westbound on Expressway 83 when he lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll over.

Four people, one adult and three children, in the van, were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Carlos Ozuna Jr., 8, later died at the hospital.

Aguirre was arrested, and charges against him are pending.

The crash remains under investigation.
