Adam Martinez Killed in San Marcos Hit-and-Run Crash on Interstate 35; Giovanni Fernandez Arrested

San Marcos, Texas (March 9, 2022) – A 31-year-old was killed early Saturday morning in a hit-and-run accident in San Marcos, according to the police.

The deadly accident happened on March 5, in the 3300 block of Interstate 35.

Police said 31-year-old Adam Martinez was struck by a vehicle on the interstate. The vehicle fled the scene after the accident.

Martinez was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle, Giovanni Fernandez, 21, was later arrested after police looked through evidence at the scene and surveillance footage which showed a dark-colored Toyota Camry hitting Martinez and driving away.

Fernandez was booked into Hays County jail on a charge of Accident Involving Death. His bond has not been set.

The police are investigating the crash.
