Alfredo Dominquez and Dog Fatally Hit by Car on Emory Drive in Upper Valley

Alfredo Dominquez and Dog Killed in Upper Valley Pedestrian Accident on Emory Drive

Upper Valley, Texas (June 18, 2023) – According to the police, a man and his dog were fatally hit by a car Friday evening in El Paso’s Upper Valley.

The deadly accident happened just before 7:00 p.m., June 16, in the 4500 block of Emory Drive.

Police said Cody Reid Lesher, of Carlsbad, New Mexico, was driving a white, four-door 2015 Maserati Quattroporte at high speed when he lost control and struck a wooden post and a gas meter. The car then rolled and struck Alfredo Dominquez, 35, of El Paso, and his dog, before skidding, hitting a traffic sign and a fence. It stopped at a rock wall.

Zachariah Samuel Dickey, a 37-year-old from west El Paso was a passenger in the Maserati.

The dog died at the scene. Dominquez was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

Lesher tried to run from the scene but was caught and detained. He was taken to the hospital for treatment and was arrested after being released. He was found to be intoxicated and charged with a 2nd-degree felony of Intoxication Manslaughter and with an Accident Involving Personal Injury or Death, also a 2nd Degree Felony. He was issued a 600,000 Cash Surety bond, a $50,000 PR Bond on the first charge, and a $100,000 bond on the second charge.

The police are investigating the crash.
