Amanda Weaver Killed in Houston County Two-Vehicle Crash on FM 229 

Houston County, Texas (March 17, 2023) – A woman was killed Thursday morning in a head-on collision in Houston County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 7:15 a.m., March 16, on FM 229 near the 666-mile marker.

DPS said a 2008 Jeep SUV was traveling southbound while a 2005 Hyundai passenger car was traveling northbound.

The Hyundai reportedly traveled into the oncoming lane in a curve, and the two vehicles collided head-on.

The Hyundai driver, Amanda Weaver, 43, of Crockett, was taken to a local hospital, where she later died.

The Jeep driver and their passenger were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The crash remains under investigation.
