Arcadio Hernandez Killed in North Dallas Pedestrian Accident on Lyndon B. Johnson Freeway Service Road

Dallas, Texas (July 27, 2020) – The pedestrian who was fatally hit by an off-duty Dallas police officer Sunday night in North Dallas has been identified as 20-year-old Arcadio Hernandez, according to the Dallas County medical examiner’s office.

The deadly accident happened at about 10:00 p.m. July 19, in the 8100 block of Lyndon B. Johnson Freeway Service Road.

Police said the officer was driving his personal vehicle westbound on the service road when he struck Hernandez, who stepped into the street in front of his vehicle.

Hernandez was pronounced dead at the scene. 

A GoFundMe campaign has been created to help Hernandez’s family.

The officer, who was on his way home at the time of the crash, was uninjured in the crash.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
