Lufkin, Texas (February 26, 2021) – The woman who was killed Wednesday night in a head-on collision in Lufkin has been identified as Ashley Huffhines, 34, of Lufkin, according to police.

The fatal crash occurred around 8:45 p.m., February 24, on North Timberland Drive at Nesbitt Avenue, near the Insta-Cash Pawn Shop.

Police said Huffhines was driving a Nissan Altima when she veered into a turn lane at Nesbitt Avenue and crashed head-on into a southbound Cadillac Escalade driven by Gabriel Galindo,32, of Lufkin.

The impact caused the Cadillac to hit a Jeep Liberty, which was traveling southbound on Timberland Drive and was being driven by Galindo’s wife, Maria.

Huffhines was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. She was taken to a local hospital, where she later died.

Galindo’s three children, aged 7, 9 and 11, were in the Cadillac at the time of the crash. They were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Galindo and Maria were not taken to the hospital.

The police are investigating the crash.

“When a person has suffered a grave personal injury in an accident due to someone else’s negligence, the most overwhelming emotion they feel is a sense of injustice. They often ask how such a life-altering event could have happened to them,” attorney Joel A. Gordon said. “The next question usually is, who can help me?” Mr. Gordon added.

A legal advocate can represent an injury victim or the family of a deceased victim. The attorney will file a claim on behalf of the victim and will have the responsibility of citing existing codes, laws or statutes which were violated.
