Bayron Xitamul Killed in Hit-and-Run on Sands Point in SW Houston; Cesar Cerrato-Oliva Arrested

Houston, Texas – A man was killed Saturday morning in a hit-and-run accident at an apartment complex in Southwest Houston, according to officials.

The deadly accident happened on April 6, in the 8100 block of Sands Point near Sharpstown.

Officials said a dark gray Ford F-150 hit 30-year-old Bayron Xitamul and hit him a second time before driving off.

Xitamul was killed in the crash. The Ford involved in the crash belonged to him and was listed as stolen and later found at a traffic stop at about 3:00 p.m. later that day.

Three people were found in the Ford and two of them were questioned and released. The third person, Cesar Cerrato-Oliva, was arrested and charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle. Additional charges are expected.

An investigation into the crash is underway.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, bicycle, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
