Charles Westbrook III Killed in Car Crash on Highway 87 in Newton County

Charles Westbrook III Killed in Newton County Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 87 near Trout Creek

Newton County, Texas (December 23, 2020) – One person was killed and another was injured in a two-vehicle crash early Tuesday morning in Newton County, 2 miles south of the Trout Creek Community, according to the DPS.

The fatal crash happened just after 5:00 a.m., December 22, on Highway 87.

DPS said Charles Westbrook III,42, of Jasper, was driving a 2006 Mazda passenger vehicle when he pulled out into the path of a southbound 2020 Chevrolet pickup truck, driven by Shaka Diaz Twine, 32, of Wiergate, resulting in a collision.

Westbrook was pronounced dead at the scene.

Twine was taken to Jasper Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.

The authorities are investigating the crash.
