2 Dead in Bus Crash on Toll Road 49 in Tyler

2 Killed, 5 Injured in Tyler Bus Accident on Toll Road 49 near U.S. Highway 69 South
Tyler, Texas (March 11, 2019) – Two people were killed and five others were injured early Sunday morning in a traffic accident involving a charter bus and a pickup truck in Tyler, police said.
The tragic accident was reported to the police at around 4:11 a.m. Sunday, March 10 on Toll Road 49, approximately, a quarter-mile east of U.S. Highway 69 South.
According to the police, a Chevy Z-71 pickup was heading eastbound on Toll 49 when it drifted into the westbound lane and collided head-on with a westbound ECHO Charter Bus that was carrying Brook Hill School students. The pickup then veered off the roadway after the impact.
Two men, who were occupants in the pickup, were declared dead at the scene. A total of five occupants of the bus including the driver, two adults and two students sustained minor injuries and were taken to UT Health- Tyler.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
