Christopher Eickenhorst Killed in Smith County Motorcycle Crash on Toll 49

Smith County, Texas (May 8, 2021) – According to the Texas DPS, a man was killed Thursday afternoon in a motorcycle crash in Smith County.

The deadly crash happened around 4:00 p.m., May 6, on Toll 49, a half a mile east of Tyler.

DPS said a 1998 Kawasaki motorcycle and a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado were traveling westbound when the Chevrolet driver made an illegal U-turn, causing the motorcycle to hit the side of the Chevrolet.

The motorcyclist, Christopher Lee Eickenhorst, 40, of Tyler, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Chevrolet driver, Jamal Russell, 30, of Jacksonville, was uninjured in the crash.

The troopers are investigating the crash.
