Deacon Manuel Luevano Dies Months after Hit-and-Run Crash at 51st and Clover in Odessa

Deacon Manuel Luevano Killed in Odessa Car Accident at 51st Street and Clover Avenue
Odessa, Texas (May 15, 2019) – The deacon who was critically injured in an alleged hit-and-run crash on March at an Odessa intersection has died, according to a local news source.
The accident happened on Monday, March 4th, at the intersection of 51st Street and Clover Avenue.
Authorities said a group of suspects had just burglarized a nearby Smoker’s Outlet and sped away down the street when they ran a stop sign and crashed into a car driven by Manuel Luevano, 72.
The suspects fled the scene after the crash.
Luevano had been a deacon at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church for 20 years. He was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries where he died two months later.
The police are investigating the crash.
