Woman Hit and Killed While Standing Outside Broken-Down Car on Spur 408 in Dallas

Woman Killed in Dallas Pedestrian Accident on Spur 408 near Mountain Creek Parkway

Dallas, Texas (July 18, 2022) – A woman died after she was struck while standing outside of a broken down car late Saturday night in Dallas, according to the Dallas Police Department.

The fatal crash happened at about 11:57 p.m. Saturday, July 16, on Spur 408 near Mountain Creek Parkway / Illinois Avenue.

Police said a pickup truck was traveling on Spur 408 Highway when, for an unknown reason, the pickup drifted onto the highway’s shoulder and hit the woman standing near her stalled vehicle. The pickup also struck one of the two people who were helping the woman.

The woman was declared dead at the scene by paramedics. Her name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

The Good Samaritan sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital.

The pickup truck driver did not stop to render aid to the victims and fled the scene. The suspect was later located at his residence and was arrested for intoxication manslaughter, intoxication assault, and failure to stop and render aid.

No further details about the crash were immediately provided.

The crash remains under investigation.
