Irving, Texas (March 26, 2019) – A woman was seriously injured Saturday morning in a traffic crash in Irving, according to a local news source.
The wreck occurred at about 6:00 a.m. Saturday, March 23 on Highway 183 and Loop 12.
As per the report, emergency crews responded to the scene of a previous accident on westbound Highway 183 and Loop 12. Authorities reportedly placed flares around the area to divert traffic, and a fire department blocker truck was placed to protect officers while working the scene.
The authorities had been at the crash site for approximately two hours when a woman driving a sedan ignored the flares on the roadway and hit the blocker truck.
The force of the impact wedged the sedan under the truck, and the driver was knocked unconscious.
Responders extricated the woman before her vehicle went on fire and rapidly became engulfed. She sustained a serious head injury and was transported to a local area hospital.
