Autrey Davis Killed in Houston Multi-Vehicle Crash on Laura Koppe and Lockwood

Houston, Texas (January 14, 2022) – A woman was killed, and her two kids and a deputy were injured Wednesday night in a multi-vehicle crash in northeast Houston, according to the authorities.

The fatal crash occurred around 10:52 p.m., January 12, on Laura Koppe and Lockwood.

Authorities said at about 10:42 p.m., deputies were responding to a call of an aggravated robbery at a CVS in the 10800 block of the Eastex Freeway and Tidwell. A deputy saw a man leaving the CVS wearing a mask and getting into a car that matched the description he heard on the scanner. He tried to stop the man, but he kept going, and the deputy pursued him.

At about 10:49 p.m., the deputy called in that they were chasing someone, possibly in a Lincoln town car. The deputy collided with a black car at the intersection of Laura Koppe and Lockwood. Five other vehicles were also involved in the crash.

The lights and sirens on the deputy’s patrol car were on at the time of the crash. The patrol car briefly caught fire after the crash.

The driver of the black car, Autrey Davis, 22, was killed in the crash. Her 2-year-old and a 5-year-old were in her car at the time of the crash. The 5-year-old was taken to the hospital in critical condition, while the 2-year-old was listed in stable condition.

The deputy was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital in stable condition.

Three other adults were also taken to the hospital for treatment.

The suspect, Davonte Williams, 27, fled the scene and was arrested at his family’s home on Glen Manor Thursday night.

An investigation is underway.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call Click to call: 281-943-5555 now for a free consultation.
