Edward Ortiz Killed in Bridge City Motorcycle Crash on Highway 73 at Rainbow Bridge

Bridge City, Texas (June 7, 2021) – According to the Texas DPS, a man was killed in a motorcycle crash Saturday night near Bridge City.

The deadly accident happened around 8:50 p.m., June 5 on Highway 73 at Rainbow Bridge.

DPS said Edward Joseph Ortiz, 51, of Vidor, was riding his 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle when he failed to reduce his speed and rear-ended a 2001 Ford Windstar passenger van that was being towed by a 1996 GMC Savana.

Ortiz was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The crash closed the Rainbow Bridge for nearly two hours.

The troopers are investigating the crash.
