Edward Stedman IV Killed in Beaumont Bicycle Accident on Delaware; Jason Lynn McKnight Charged

Beaumont, Texas (May 20, 2020) – The bicyclist who was killed in a hit-and-run accident in March in Beaumont has been identified as Edward Stedman IV, according to police.

The accident was reported just after 9:00 a.m. March 29, in the 5300 block of Delaware.

According to police, Jason Lynn McKnight, 53, of Beaumont, was driving when he hit Edward Stedman IV, who was riding a bicycle.

McKnight fled the scene, and his vehicle was found near Eastex Freeway.

Stedman was taken to a Houston hospital where he later died.

McKnight was arrested and taken to the Jefferson County Jail. A Jefferson County grand jury has indicted him on a charge of Accident Involving Personal Injury or Death. If convicted, he could face 2-20 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.
